Irene Pulido Valdeolivas
Neurologist MD PhD
Irene Pulido Valdeolivas is part of the Visual Pathway Laboratory inside the group of pathogenesis and new therapies, which is lead by Pablo Villoslada at the Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS). Her clinical tasks are focused on adults with multiple sclerosis and other immune-mediated central nervous system disorders.
Irene Pulido Valdeolivas graduated in Medicine in 2010 from the "Universidad Autónoma de Madrid", where she also obtained her doctorate in Neuroscience (summa cum laude) under the supervision of Dr. Estrella Rausell. In her PhD project, using new data analysis tools, she analyzed the different gait patterns of patients with hereditary spastic paraplegia. She completed her training as a neurologist at University Hospital La Paz (Madrid).
She started her partipation in Neuroscience research during her degree years. She was granted in 2009 by the prestigious Amgen program for Undergraduates Students. She has carried out studies in gait analysis of different nervous system diseases and in the phenotypic patterning of neurological disorders by means of the incorporation of new tools for data analysis and data representation. She is also highly interested in the application of new technologies in clinical practice. She has participated in the development of a new device for synchronized measuring of eye and head movements, which derived into patented technology and industrial explotation. She has published 8 scientific papers in journals which are indexed in Pubmed and she has also contributed with numerous communications to national and international congresses.
