What is the Advanced Imaging in Neuroimmunological Diseases (ImaginEM) group?
The ImaginEM group is a multidisciplinary research team with researchers from the Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona. The main objective of this group is to find neuroimage biomarkers of disease evolution and response to therapies in neuroimmunological diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). Advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques are sensitive to the pathological changes of the brain and spinal cord, and thus, useful tools to explore the mechanisms of damage underlying physical and cognitive disability in MS. In that sense, our group develops technical improvements in advanced MRI to apply them to the clinical research. We are part of the European network of researchers MAGNIMS (Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Multiple Sclerosis).
