Mechanisms of axonal damage in neuroinflammation: opportunities for neuroprotection - Dra Beatriz Moreno
Beatriz Moreno obtained her degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarra in 1997. She defended her PhD in Neurosciences in 2005 at the same University with a thesis on the effects and mechanisms of action of methylthioadenosine in autoimmune diseases supervised by Dr. Pablo Villoslada. She did her post-doctoral research at the University of Southampton, UK, working on the effect of systemic inflammation in axonal damage under Professor Hugh Perry supervision. At present, she works as a researcher in the Neuroimmunology group at IDIBAPS-Hospital Clinic in Barcelona. Most of her research is based in the study of the mechanisms of action of inflammation and axonal degeneration in neurodegenerative diseases, mainly focus in Multiple Sclerosis.
